Ojl, Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here and decide to stay--if you like, you can post a little about yourself at Wikipedia:New user log so others can learn a little about your interests, etc. If you're still figuring out how we do things here, the welcome page (linked above) and Wikipedia:How to edit a page are great places to start. Questions can be asked at the Village pump (though we've had vandal trouble there today for the first time in a while, so things may be in flux when you go to that page), or on my user talk page if you like -- I'm happy to answer questions. The best way to learn about us is to browse around and to "be bold" in making edits where you feel they're needed, so I encourage you to do so. Happy editing! Jwrosenzweig 18:46, 10 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hi there. Thanks for your note on the new user log. Just wanted you to know that you can sign your posts to talk pages by typing "~~~~" after your post. That will automatically be replaced by a link to your user page, and a timestamp. Isomorphic 03:38, 11 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Pastoral Care - Line 13: Spirit in the context of pastoral care is human spirit and is genetic. Spirit in the context of pastoral ministry is spirituality and is historic. Pastoral ministry in the context of the whole article is the implementation of christianity as explicitly stated by other authors of the article. The two contrasting terms are defined making an explicit distinction between the two and receiving equal address. See previous edits. Line 60: The link is not broken. Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Kirkwall Scroll-1.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. lightdarkness (talk) 17:18, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Bogoakathame2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bogoakathame2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --– Quadell (talk) (random) 19:38, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Boline.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Boline.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:09, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Tarping

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Tarping, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 15:14, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At the time that I tagged the article, there were no sources, and a swift Google for the term didn't turn up anything, so I assumed it was a neologism. In this case, the assumption was wrong; I've been wrong before, and will be wrong again. In any case, you've now added a citation, so future editors won't repeat my mistake. --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 16:11, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but a note on the talk page, or to me would have been a more thoughtful response. I should have started the talk page myself to begin with, so we'll share the blame. :-) Oliver Low 16:19, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When I tagged the article, I thought that the reason in the tag, "apparent neologism", was sufficient. With hindsight, it was too curt. My apologies. --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 16:38, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Society for sacred mission

[edit]

Thank you for adding stuff to this article...however, can you please also add a citation for the new paragraph/section you added? if not, then it is OR and could get wiped. thanks in advance, kind regards Peter morrell 16:50, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

to which one? The 'beginnings' section I've cited 'History of SSM' by Alistair Mason, and the quote from Kelly I've cited SSM as the source (SSM is the name of the society's published journal as well as the name of the society). The details of the current provincials and visitors I don't think needs citation since it is current. I got the in person, when I visited the SSM priory at Willen myself. Oliver Low 16:57, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, OK no worries. In case it gets wiped then you might need to keep an eye on it. best regards Peter morrell 17:12, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for your kind feedback, best wishes Peter morrell 22:23, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Ojl! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 141 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Jan Hammer - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Re: Cite court (from January)

[edit]

Do you think we might have three more fields to the cite court template?

  • judge= the name of the judge whose judgement is being cited
  • neutral-citation= for the neutral citation - the official citation system in the UK since 2001, which consists of the year, the court (e.g. H.L. for House of Lords), and the sequential case number. eg [2005] HL 12 is the 12th case heard by the House of Lords in 2005. The system was back-dated, and the year is not always the same as the year of the law report.
  • Also other-citation= for other systems and older cases.

Thanks. :-) Oliver Low (talk) 01:22, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Oliver, sorry that it's taken so long to get back to you about this, but I've been inactive for the past several months as I finished up my college degree. I'd be happy to make these edits for you, but in order to do so, I need more specific information as to what I'm doing. I'm not sure where or how these arguments should be added to the template. If you could provide an example of what the citation should look like with all of these fields added, or better yet code that I can simply copy and paste over, that would be great. Thanks. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:04, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
okay, I posted that on the Template:cite-court talk page. :-) Oliver Low (talk) 20:26, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Oliver Low has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication what he is supposed to be notable for. I could not find any independent coverage about him. Unsourced since 2004.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Burial at sea, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Newhaven. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
